Linking to an anchor
If you want to take people to another site altogether, which is posted on the web, you start the same way:
Type in the link text like this and highlight it:
Now it looks like this:

Go here for Nate Baldwin's excellent actions

chain iconNow go to the inspector and click the chain icon:

This time you need to type in the address of the page you're linking to (point and shoot etc. are no help here, of course)

type in your linkOvertype 'EmptyReference' or paste if you've copied a link. Be careful, if you have pasted you may see '%20' at the beginning of your link. This means you've accidentally copied a space, and your link won't work.

If you can't see the whole link, stretch out the inspector from the bottom right hand corner.

(A nice little time saver: if you just start off with www. for your link, golive will put in the http:// for you).

edit linkTo see a very long link, or edit one, go to the right-facing arrow in the Inspector, then choose 'Edit'.

externals tab
There is one handy way to put in external urls if you want to use them more than once in your site. Go to the site window and select the 'External' tab. Nothing there, right? If so, go to Site > Get References - you will see all the external links used in your site. You can click and drag these to the url box in the inspector after you've clicked the chain icon.

Very useful - if a page you link to in your site changes its address, make the change in the Externals tab, then say OK when Golive asks you if it should update all references to that link. Don't forget to re-upload changed pages.

Please, please don't ever ....
