Links in Framesets

Sorry to duck out, but this is fully covered in page 4 of my frames tutorial:

Borders round links

There are two kinds of border that can appear round a link.

You select an image, and turn it into a link. A border appears round it, probably in the same colour you have set for links on your page. You may not see the border, the image might just appear to get a bit bigger. Solution: In the 'More' tab of the image inspector, set the border to zero. This is the default in Golive 6, it isn't in Golive 4, I'm not sure about Golive 5.

The second kind only appears when you view your page in Explorer. You click a link and it acquires a blue or dotted border. This is a feature of Explorer, not Golive, and the link will remain until you click another link. You can get rid of this on your pages by using Michael Ahgren's No Link Rectangle action - get it here - but you should be aware that if you use this action, you disable tabbing from link to link, and this function is important to some people, especially those who have trouble using the mouse.

Links for actions

If you want to attach an action to some text or an image, you need to make a link first. Use the chain icon as usual and set the link to # - this can cause some trouble in some browsers by making the page jump to the top, but it's still the usual way of setting a link for actions. As an alternative you can set the link to this:

javascript:;

Now you can go to the Actions palette and attach the action of your choice. If you don't make a link first, the actions will be greyed out and unavailable.

Please, please don't ever ....
