Positioning the popup

A popup window normally appears more or less at the top and left of the browser window.

One alternative is to use the 'Slide New Window' action instead of the 'Open Window' action - it's in the same group of actions, just choose it instead. Sensibly, 'target' has been renamed 'Window name'. The popup window will now slide in from the left of the browser window and centre itself.

With Golive closed, install the actions - the path to the folder to put them in (in Golive 6) is Adobe Golive 6 (folder) > Modules > Jscripts > Actions. Put Dave's folder in here beside the other actions, then start Golive. You'll see lots more action in Dave's folder, they are likely to come in useful later, so I'd advise keeping them all. If you're a Mac user, you'll see a bunch of files ending .ico - these icons are for Windows users, you can ignore or discard them.

The action you are looking for is the Open Window 1.2 action, use it instead of the regular Open Window action and you can set the position of the new window from the top and left of the screen. Thanks, Dave!

Automatic popups

To make your popup window appear automatically when the page loads, do this:

Turn down this triangle to reveal the head section of your page:

Drag a head action over to the head section of your page. Select the icon with a question mark, go to the inspector and choose your open window action, proceed as before.
