The Table Palette

Golive 6 has a very good new feature - the Table palette. Here it is:

Select a table and open this palette - it shows you your table, with the measurements. If you have nested tables, that weird little icon top right is a zoom tool.

The Style tab offers pre-made table styles you can use, and the circle with an arrow leads to a new menu, so you can apply a style, or invent a new one and save it for future use. I'm not wild about the styles offered, but they are worth a look if you are stuck for ideas.

Also, this is a good way of selecting small cells - just drag the palette out as large as your screen allows.

Even better - here I've deliberately made a mistake by setting individual cells to add up to a total number of pixels greater than I've set the table to:

See the 180p in red? Just click that and the mistake is put right - there are other ways of correcting it, such as changing the widths of individual cells and Golive can only show you one way, but it can be a life-saver when you've been tearing your hair out about why a table won't work.

Just click the red total and ......

Your table is now the total width of its cells.

The zoom tool is available now because the temporary table I made to show this was inside another table at the time.

(???? 3 x 54 = 180 ????? - the total includes the cell spacing)

The sort button? Yes, you can sort the contents of your table, here are the choices you get:
